Twentieth Anniversary of World AIDS Day, December 1, 2008 11/19/08 In observance of World AIDS Day, the Marion County Health Department will offer FREE anonymous or confidential HIV testing on Tuesday, December 2 and Friday, December 5, at the Marion County Health Department at 3180 Center St. NE.  Call 503-588-5342 to schedule an appointment.  read more...   New immunization requirements for oregon students 11/12/08 The Oregon School Immunization Law requires that children attending children's facilities (pre-schools, pre-kindergartens, day care and head start) and school children be protected against several vaccine preventable diseases including - diptheria, tetanus, pertussis (Tdap), polio, measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), hepatitis B, varicella (chickenpox), haemorphilus influenzae type b (HIB).  Vaccines are required for children under 5 years of age, plus the new requirement of hepatitis A and Tdap vaccine.  read more... Marion County Raising Minimum Charge at Transfer Stations 09-22-08  Beginning October 1, the minimum charge for solid waste disposal at the North Marion and Salem-Keizer Recycling and Transfer Stations will be raised from $9 to $13, with another raise from $13 to $15 occuring on October 1, 2009.  read more...
