Core Responsibilities of The Commission
Planning: Facilitates the Coordinated Comprehensive Planning in Marion CountyThe Coordinated Comprehensive Planning process engages communities in assessing their needs, assets and strengths, and examining their capacity to support children, youth, and their families. Community partners come together for this collaborative process that produces an integrated, coordinated plan and ensures that the whole service delivery system is more collaborative, more inclusive, and more effective.
Mobilize Communities to Support Children and FamiliesSince its creation in 1993, Marion County Children and Families Commission has been committed to engaging local communities in planning and decision making.
Create and Sustain a Family Support SystemToday’s new breed of services, often labeled family support, is gaining momentum. This approach replaces past orientations that focused on deficit-oriented services and shifts the emphasis to a wellness model that builds on the families strengths, intervening to support families (not individuals) before problems arise.
