Economic development is the concerted effort of policymakers, community leaders and entrepreneurs to grow the economy, increase employment, and improve the standards of living in Marion County.
The Community Services department works in conjunction with the Marion County Board of Commissioners and the Economic Development Advisory Board to support efforts to communicate across public and private sectors, seek efficiencies in government operations and help employers retain and create jobs.
One of the functions of Community Services' Economic Development program is to administer Oregon Lottery funds. These funds are dispersed in Marion County in accordance with ORS 461.450 through grants awarded at the recommendation of the Economic Development Advisory Board and the designation of the Marion County Board of Commissioners.

Business Development Grants

Business Development Grants are available to private sector businesses for projects that result in job creation. Preference is given to target sectors which include: (a) manufacturing, (b) tourism, and (c) agriculture and natural resources, including related services and supports. Community Project Grants
Community Project Grants available to nonprofits, legal entities, or municipalities to promote economic development through increasing the livability and safety within communities and unincorporated areas of Marion County. Request for Applications closed August 31, 2015.
Nine applications were received with requests totaling $106,244. Grant reviews will be held on October 7th and grant award announcements posted by October 30, 2015.
Infrastructure Project Grants
Infrastructure Development Grants are available to municipalities located within rural areas of Marion County, Oregon to support planning and implementation of projects to improve community infrastructure. This grant program is not accepting applications at this time.
