Fair BoardMarion County Commissioners appoint seven members to the Fair Board pursuant to ORS 565.210-330 and 565.610-650. Fair Board members serve for three-year terms. The Fair Board is an agency of the County and is subject to most laws applicable to public bodies.Fair Management AgreementIn 2001, Marion County executed an agreement with the Fair Board to "define the management of the Marion County Fair and facilities by the Marion County Fair Board, and establish a method of determining compensation for County services provided." The agreement requires that the board submit a three-year business plan to the Board of Commissioners by December 31st of each year.Marion County Fair Board's Three-Year Goals

We've contracted with a professional agency to coordinate sponsorships.4. Streamline Marion County administrative processes for the fairWe have been working hard to clarify expectations so that administrative functions, including fiscal, information technology, contracts, and deposits run smoothly.OtherCompliance with Laws and Regulations (Including Animal Welfare)Since Marion County hosts the fair on the Oregon State Fairgrounds, we comply with the State Fair's policies on animal welfare. All animals are treated in a humane manner. Animals are provided with clean bedding, adequate food and clean water. Fair exhibitors must keep their animals from harm. The Marion County Fair also complies with federal, state and county policies with regard to environmental issues and the Americans with Disabilities Act.Professional DevelopmentAll Fair Board members are encouraged to visit other county fairs to observe how they operate. The fair sponsors all members in attending the Oregon Fairs Association annual convention, spring conference, and area meetings.Updated: 9/2009
