Chicken Pox (Varicella Zoster)
“CHICKEN POX” (Varicella Zoster) is a very contagious, generalized viral disease with slight fever, rash and blisters that scab over. The rash generally starts 2-3 weeks after exposure to the disease. It is spread from person to person by contact with respiratory secretions (coughs, sneezes and used tissues) and by touching the rash.
SYMPTOMS:
If you suspect that you or your child has chickenpox, consult your doctor.
COMMUNICABLE PERIOD: It is contagious as early as 5 days before, until about 5 days after the rash starts.
