PREGNANT WOMEN:

Prenatal Nutrition: Discusses nutrition issues often encountered during pregnancy, healthy feeding plans, and benefits of breastfeeding

Preparing to Breastfeed: Discusses preparation strategies and complete ‘how to’ breastfeeding instructions to help ensure a successful breastfeeding experience. Appropriate for first pregnancy, first-time breastfeeding, women with a history of breastfeeding difficulties, or any women expressing an interest.

INFANTS:

Introduction to Solids: Presentation discusses the appropriate age for starting solids, appropriate first foods, introduction to the cup, and avoiding food allergies. Appropriate for infants 3-5 months.

Finger Foods: This class is a continuation of Introduction of Solids. The presentation focuses on the transition to chunkier texture foods, table/family foods, and preparing to wean child from the bottle. Appropriate for infants 8-10 months.

CHILDREN (ages 1-5):

Kids Club:  With a "hands-on" approach to nutrition, children and parents are given the opportunity to explore making foods together, in a sage and pleasant atmosphere. Foods are prepared and eaten in class and recipes are available to take home. Appropriate for children ages 3-5 years.

Toddler Feeding: This presentation focuses on eating behaviors, age-appropriate foods and sound nutrition. Appropriate for 1-3 year olds.

FAMILY

Dental Health: Our only Saturday class, presented by a Salem area Dental Hygienist. Discuss proper care and maintenance of teeth for children and adults.

Family Meals: With a focus on family mealtime, parents are given the opportunity to observe the preparation of simple, low-cost balanced meals. Foods are eaten in class and recipes are available to take home. Appropriate for the whole family.

WIC-O-RAMA: This class is an open, walk-through style class in a health-fair atmosphere. Several displays highlight a variety of nutrition topics with relevance to adults, children and infants. There is something for everyone. The class is self-paced; participants may come and go according to their schedule and interest level.  This class is available the last Thursday of each month, from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

Fitness Fun: Part discussion, part active play, this class will help parents learn to keep their family active. We will include indoor activities and discuss community resources. children are encouraged to attend, play time is included.

Many of the classes are also available in Spanish.
