., located in Brooks, is the largest Agricultural recycling center in the United States. Annually, Agri-Plas, Inc. diverts 24,000,000 pounds of plastic waste from being disposed of in Marion County. Agri-Plas has been an EarthWISE business since 2007.
The Covanta Marion Energy-from-Waste (EfW) Facility
is located in Brooks. Sustainability is key to what we do since we provide an environmentally sound solution to municipal solid waste disposal that maximizes the recovery of clean, renewable energy while minimizing the environmental impacts of materials remaining after recycling. We live the 4 R’s – Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Recover. The EfW process reduces waste to 10% of its original volume, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and reuses waste water. Our facility also recycles approximately 5,000 tons of ferrous metals a year and recovers enough energy from Marion County’s waste to light up a town the size of Woodburn on a daily basis.
D & O Garbage Service
, a family-owned business spanning three generations, has provided garbage and recycling services to thousands Marion County businesses and residences for more than 50 years. Besides being EarthWISE certified, we are long-time members of the Oregon Refuse & Recycling Association, the Association of Oregon Recyclers and we work in cooperation with Garten Services to process the recyclable items we collect. From the energy-saving lighting and use of recycled paper in our office to our recycled oil heater in our repair shop, D & O Garbage Service implements many ways to conserve natural resources.
Loren’s Sanitation & Recycling Service, Inc
. is a family-owned solid waste collection company that has served residential, commercial and multi-family customers in Keizer since 1958. Our other franchise, North Marion Recycling & Disposal, has provided garbage and recycling service to customers in North Marion County, Donald and St. Paul since 1996. Some of our company’s every day “green” practices include: buying recycled copy paper; offering EFT and on-line payments to our customers as well as paperless billing; and using entirely third-party approved cleaning products, paper towels and toilet paper. Additionally, the company’s garbage and recycling trucks use 5% biodiesel fuel.
The Mid-Valley Garbage & Recycling Association
office has been certified since 2008. Our 36,000 square foot facility sorts recyclable materials from commercial loads collected by local companies. Besides recycling, we also strive to be more sustainable in other aspects of our business as well.
In 2009, Pacific Sanitation
started collecting electronics, cooking oil, and anti-freeze in our curbside recycle program. We run bio-diesel in all of our trucks, and recently our office started using recycled paper for all of our route books. We are proud to be recertified as a Marion County EarthWISE certified business.
