Becoming Earthwise Certified has been a rewarding process for Cooke Stationery, allowing us to become ever-vigilant of our impact on the earth. On-going practices include:
• Finding new ways to reduce waste, which has allowed us to downsize our garbage container.
• Making sustainable purchasing decisions and offering our customers recycled, recyclable, remanufactured and compostable office supply choices.
• Looking for new ways to save more energy in our lighting, heating, and cooling.
One Fair World, a non-profit fair trade retail gift store, is now EarthWISE certified. Some of our earth-friendly practices include switching mostly to CFL’s and LED lighting, composting grounds from our complimentary coffee, and promoting an aggressive “reduce, reuse, recycle” philosophy in our daily practices. We are also excited to report that we have started making our own cleaning supplies and creating attractive recycled gift boxes as an alternative to using new boxes.
Rapid Refill Print Solutions provides OEM and Remanufactured Ink and Toner cartridges, as well as printer/copier sales, printer repair and maintenance services. We have been committed to recycling and sustainability since we opened our first store in 2003. We use 100% recycled boxes and packaging materials to transport our products. We are proud of our company-wide recycling program and have recently adopted a sustainable purchasing policy to help our company maintain EarthWISE standards.
Winner of the Mid-Willamette Valley Green Awards, 2015 Recycler of the Year.
In support of our ecological beliefs, South Salem Cycleworks has never used a garbage service. All materials like fluorescent bulbs, batteries, and packing materials are recycled, while organic matter is composted. Bikes and bike parts beyond repair are recycled as scrap. We promote products made from recycled materials whenever possible. Best of all, the cycling business allows us to support the use of an ecologically friendly transportation and a healthier lifestyle.
