Native Plant Rescue

Marion County is providing space within its Natural Heritage Parks to accomodate the transplant of local native plants that are in danger of being lost to site disturbance. Marion County encourages the preservation of habitat that supports these plants, but recognizes that sometimes disturbance will not be avoided. Rather than lose the plants and their genetic information, Marion County has elected to provide appropriate sites for them within the County Parks system. This program has already successfully transplanted native plants from an ODOT construction site and from a forested site that was scheduled for logging.
