Marion County Public Works - Environmental Services is giving a scholarship for the 2009-2010 school year. The application deadline is April 2, 2010. The criteria is listed below.

Marion County Department of Public Works - Environmental Services will be awarding a $2,500 scholarship, along with a summer internship, to a graduating high school student who will be entering an Accredited College/University of Higher Education located within the United States, on a full-time basis, pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies, Engineering Programs, or other suitable major related to solid waste management.
Listed below are some important deadlines and guidelines for completing the awards application:
April 2, 2010 - All completed application forms and back-up documentation must be delivered to Marion County or postmarked by this date. Send to the Marion County Public Works - Environmental Services, 5155 Silverton Road NE, Salem, Oregon 97305. Phone (503) 588-5169, FAX (503) 588-3565. The application forms may be photocopied if needed.
April 30, 2010 - The selected applicant will be notified of the results of the evaluation by the Department. Applicants not selected will be notified in writing shortly afterwards.

The Marion County Department of Public Works - Environmental Services feels that education, of both the public and college students, is one way to further the understanding of solid waste management issues. Through the scholarship program, we hope to facilitate the education of college students, in hopes that they will become knowledgeable and responsible solid waste management professionals.
