Free Paint The oil based paint, stains and other items listed below are collected and then processed through the waste-to-energy facility in Brooks where it is used as a fuel to generate electricity. All of the usable latex paint gets screened for quality, blended together, and filtered. The paint is given away for free (while supplies last; limit of 5 buckets per customer) to the community at the two recycling and transfer stations. The paint may be used in well ventilated interior projects or in exterior settings. Annually, we recycle and give away 30,000 – 35,000 gallons of recycled paint which is enough paint to cover both sides of a ten foot wall stretching from Salem to LaGrande!

Fight Graffiti
The paint recycling program originally began as a way to help provide victims of graffiti with a free source of paint to cover it up. While it is still used for this purpose, homeowners, contractors and others now use it for a variety of interior and exterior projects. If your property is vandalized with graffiti, here are some recommendations:
· Remove graffiti or cover it up promptly. The quicker the graffiti is removed, the stronger the message that the community will not tolerate the vandalism. If the graffiti is allowed to remain, it becomes a signal of a community's acceptance of defeat.
