What is Fire Corps?
The Fire Corps promotes the use of citizen advocates to enhance the capacity of resource-constrained fire and rescue departments at all levels: volunteer, combination, and career. Citizen advocates can assist local fire departments in a range of activities including fire safety outreach, youth programs, and administrative support. Fire Corps provides resources to assist fire and rescue departments in creating opportunities for citizen advocates and promotes citizen participation. Fire Corps is supported by the Department of Homeland Security.

Fire Corps is a partnership of several organizations, including the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ Volunteer and Combination Officer’s Section (IAFC/VCOS), the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), and the Fire Corps National Advisory Committee, consisting of nearly every national organization representing the fire and emergency services today.
The program’s ultimate goal is to support and supplement resource-constrained fire and emergency service departments at all levels-volunteer, combination, and career. This is accomplished through the use of citizen volunteers for non-emergency activities.
Why Should I Join Fire Corps?
As a Fire Corps volunteer, your support provides local fire/EMS departments with non-emergency tasks freeing up emergency responders to better protect your community from fires, natural disasters, terrorism, and other emergencies. You will gain a greater understanding of the fire and emergency services and become better prepared to handle your own emergencies.
Fire Corps provides opportunities to become personally prepared and at the same time give back to your community by volunteering to support your local fire and emergency departments.
