1. Will they pave back on my driveway? All roads will receive a minimum three foot paved driveway approach.2. Can you pave my driveway when they pave the road? You can call the contractor and pay him to pave your driveway. The contractor will usually give you a better price while he has the equipment on site. 3. Why did you pave back on their driveway and not mine?Sometimes problems are created at driveways by adding depth to the road surface, if this occurs we are required to repair the problem. This is most often done by extending the paved area of the driveway allowing a better transition.4. When will they fix the drop-off at my driveway?Your driveway will be made usable by the end of the work day. A Marion County Public Works crew will be back within 7-14 days to place aggregate to a finished grade.5. Will raising the surface of the road cause me to have a problem with drainage?Resurfacing the road doesn't usually cause new drainage problems. Resurfacing restores the crown in the road, which will divide the runoff of water. Any prior drainage problem will be turned over to Public Works.6. When will they clean up the mess they left? All jobs are carefully reviewed during construction and at the end of the project. A list is made of items that have to be completed before a job is considered finished. If you have concerns regarding a project, please call 503-588-5036 and ask for the Resurfacing Project Manager. You are important to us.7. After receiving the County notification about work on my street, will they let me know before they actually start work?Yes, the contractor is required to give notice prior to starting work.8. What about my mailbox? If your mailbox is damaged by the contractor’s crew, they are required to repair it to its original condition. All mailboxes will be adjusted to the correct height required by your postal district if affected by the construction by Marion County Public Works staff. If the post is too short, a new treated 4 x 4 post will be used and your mailbox will be placed on it. The County will not adjust customized mailbox stands. They will attempt to raise the existing post. You may elect to keep your customized stand if you agree to raise the height of the mailbox yourself.9. What are they going to do about the drop-off at the edge of the road?A Marion County Public Works crew will complete shoulder rock within 14 days of mainline paving.10. Will I be able to get in or out of my driveway while they are working?Yes, we try to minimize your inconvenience as much as possible. The only time you may be unable to enter or leave your driveway is while the paving machine is at that location. Once the roller has compacted the asphalt you will be allowed to cross the mat.
