2013 Transportation System Plan Update
Are you interested in helping to shape the future of transportation in Marion County? If so, we want your feedback!
What is it? Marion County is in the process of updating the Rural Transportation System Plan (RTSP) and creating a new urban component to this planning document. The RTSP is a planning tool that is used to identify transportation projects throughout rural Marion County – this includes roads, transit, bicycles, pedestrians, rails, ferries, freight, and air. The last time that Marion County updated the RTSP was 2005.
Why? As part of the Oregon Transportation Planning Rule (TPR), all cities and counties over a certain population are required to create and update their TSP's periodically to account for changes in population, vehicle miles traveled, and the overall economy of an area.
How? In addition to technical analyses, the RTSP update will involve public input. This website is one component of the public involvement. Others will include at least one open house in addition to going before both the Planning Commission and the Marion County Board of Commissioners.
To submit a comment, contact Marion County Public Works Department at 503.588.5036 and ask for Cindy Schmitt.
