Mill City Historic Railroad Bridge Photo Contest
Winning photos will be displayed at the City of Mill City and
Marion County Public Works!
Marion County Public Works and the Save Our Bridge Committee of Mill City are hosting a photo contest to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mill City's Historic Railroad Bridge, which crosses the North Santiam River in Mill City.
Contestants may enter up to two photos for each of the following categories:
- Natural Setting
- Architectural Features
- Community Life
The deadline for entries is Wednesday, August 14, 2019, by 5:30 p.m.
One Best of Show winner will be awarded a $500 cash prize, and
four category winners (one in each category) will be awarded $125 cash prizes, thanks to the generosity of the contest's sponsor Santiam Hospital in Stayton. All winners will be recognized at Mill City's Historic Railroad Bridge Centennial Celebration on Saturday, September 14, 2019, in Mill City where their entries will be framed and displayed. Following the celebration, the framed photographs will be displayed at the City of Mill City and Marion County Public Works.
Photos must be taken of the Mill City's Historic Railroad Bridge.
You may submit up to two photos for each category: Natural Setting, Architectural Features, Community Life, and Seasonal.
Only digital photographs will be accepted and must be submitted via email (below). All digital photos should be taken at the highest resolution possible and must be submitted in .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format, at least 72 dpi.
Marion County reserves the right to remove or reject any photograph that:
Photos may be color or black and white.
Promotes, fosters or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation;
Contains sexual content;
Contains profanity or abusive language;
Contains information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems;
Pertains to the promotion or opposition of any person campaigning for election to a political office, or promoting or opposing any ballot proposition;
Attempts to solicit commerce;
Attempts to conduct or encourage illegal activities;
Discloses any information that the county and its employees must keep confidential by law or administrative rule.
The contest is open to everyone except for employees and their families of Marion County Public Works and the City of Mill City.
Photos entries must be submitted by Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Include name, telephone number, email address, and category selected in the email submission.
Finalists will be required to submit a high-resolution photograph of at least 8 x 10 inches at 300 dpi by September 1, 2019. If they are unable to do so, Marion County Public Works reserves the right to disqualify that entry.
Winners will be notified and names posted on Marion County Public Works and City of Mill City websites.
The photos will remain the property of the contestant however, by entering the contest contestants grant Marion County and the City of Mill City a royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive license to be publicly displayed and reproduced in future publications, websites or programs.
Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible.
The judging panel will be comprised of representatives from Marion County, the City of Mill City, and Santiam Hospital, and Santiam Canyon community members, and entries will be judged based on the best representation of Mill City's Historic Railroad Bridge in each of the four categories.
