Marion County Planning Division
The Planning Division is responsible for administering the County Comprehensive Plan and implementing land use regulations for all unincorporated areas of the County. Staff assist the Board of Commissioners, Planning Commission and Hearings Officers with review of land use regulations. This office also processes a variety of land use applications and coordinates County land use policy with cities, other counties, and state agencies.
Our goal in maintaining this website is to facilitate access to information which is specific to the Marion County land use and zoning process. Although every effort is made to keep all information current, please contact the office for confirmation of all information before taking action.Please note - due to limited staffing, Planning Division office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday New - Proposed Amendments to County Noise OrdinanceThe Marion County Board of Commissioners has scheduled another reading and will consider additional amendments to the county noise ordinance at their regular Board Session on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. and will be held in the Senator Hearing Room at Courthouse Square located at 555 Court Street NE, Salem. In July, the board amended the noise ordinance to remove the exemption for commercial uses inside the Salem urban growth boundary to address noise and loud music played at night made in conjunction with permitted commercial uses. The proposed amendments will expand the exemption outside the urban growth boundary. If approved, the ordinance will become effective in 90 days.
