DEPUTIES INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH SOUTH OF SALEM (UPDATE 2 FINAL)

The Sheriff's Office has identified the drivers in yesterday's fatal crash, Jeremy Fillible age 34, was driving his Chevrolet truck when it collided with a motorcycle being driven by Daniel Harmon, age 52, Mr. Harmon died at the scene. Mr. Harmon's passenger McKennen Brockamp, age 25, remains at Salem Hospital in critical condition. The Sheriff's Office does not anticipate any further releases of information.
Deputies have concluded today's fatal traffic crash investigation and Liberty Road South has reopened to regular traffic. Deputies have determined that a south bound Chevrolet truck missed its turn and pulled into a driveway to turn around. The truck reentered the roadway when it was struck by a north bound Honda motorcycle.
The area where the collision occurred has a very limited view for motorists due to a hill and a corner, deputies believe this is the primary cause of today's crash. The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision. The motorcycle riders an adult male was killed instantly and the female has been taken to Salem Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
No citations will be issued as a result of the investigation and deputies do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor. The name of all involved will be released once next of kin notification can be made.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office is arriving on scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash on Liberty Road South near Jory Hill Road South. Initial indications are that a pickup truck and motorcycle were traveling on Liberty Road South when the two vehicles collided.
The driver of the truck was not injured, a passenger on the motorcycle has been transported to Salem Hospital and the other passenger of the motorcycle died at the scene. Deputies from the Traffic Safety Team are on scene and attempting to determine the events that led up to the crash.
Motorists should expect Liberty Road South to be closed for the next several hours, please seek alternate routes. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
