Once an inmate is lodged into a unit after their book-in process, they will be eligible for one visit a week.You are required to sign in at the visiting desk with photo identification that shows your name and date of birth. You do this ONLY at one of the sign-in times.You must be on time for a sign up time of your choosing AND actual visiting time. We will not admit late comers. If you are late, the visit will be forfeited.The inmates receive only 1 visit a week on any day and it is on a “first come - first serve basis” as space is limited. Only 1 adult OR 1 adult and 1 minor (17 yrs. old and younger) can visit an inmate. All visits are 30 minutes long and are non-contact visits.If the inmate currently is in an inmate worker position, that inmate will receive 2 visits on their visiting day. All other visiting rules still apply.No children / minors (17 yrs. old and younger) will be left without adult supervision in the upstairs visiting areas, line-up room, or in the visiting lobby.If you leave your visit early for any reason, you will NOT be allowed to go back and finish the remainder of your visit. ***Exception*** To let visiting know the inmate has not shown up for up the visit yet.Adults or children creating a disturbance both in the visiting lobby or the upstairs visiting areas may have their visit terminated and be required to leave the facility.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office Staff reserve the right the remove visiting privileges temporarily or indefinitely.
Inmates or visitors that are in wheelchairs, use crutches, walkers, canes, and/or serious medical conditions will have their visits take place on the first floor of the facility in our line-up room. You are required to reserve the line-up room ahead of time. These visits will still take place on the inmates visiting day and all visiting rules still apply.If an inmate does not want to visit a particular person, the inmate will submit a “Kyte” to the Visiting Desk stating so. Once a “Kyte” has been submitted, the person listed on the “Kyte” will not be allowed to visit that particular inmate for the remainder of the that inmates current incarceration.
RULES FOR VISITORS UNDER THE AGE OF 18
The visiting clerk may, at his/her discretion, require proof of I.D. from minors under the age of 18. A visitor under the age of 18 will be permitted to visit an inmate under the following circumstances:The minor is legally married to the inmate and verification of the same is provided. In this event, the minor would not be required to be accompanied by an adult. The minor is accompanied by and will be supervised by an adult visitor in the upstairs visiting area or line-up room.
SAFETY AND SECURITY CLEARANCE PROCEDURES
For everyone’s safety and the security of the facility you are required to go through the metal detector and SUCCESSFULLY CLEAR IT.Visitors may be subjected to searches at anytime in accordance with policy. Failure to clear the metal detector can subject you to a search by security staff prior to your visit.
NO PERSONAL BELONGINGS ARE ALLOWED TO GO WITH YOU DURING YOUR VISIT***Exception*** Visitors with babies may bring (1) blanket & (1) plastic bottle, OR (1) pacifierNo stroller’s, car seats, or carriers allowed in upstairs visiting area.

Specific Clothing NOT Allowed for Visitors, Including Children:No Halter Tops / Halter Top Dresses No Wrap-Around Skirts / Wrap-Around ShirtsNo Tube TopsNo Tank Tops No Overalls No clothing that exposes skin (e.g., chest, back, thighs, or midsection) No see-through clothing, including sheer and loose weave fabricsNo insignias or paraphernalia associated with street gangs
Hats are NOT allowed. Accommodations may be made on case-by-case basis for religious headgear consistent with established security practices.
It shall be within the discretionary authority of Marion County Sheriff’s Office staff to determine the appropriateness for visitation purposes, of any attire not specifically prohibited by policy.
