The online application packet contains an application form and instructions. Complete the packet material, schedule an appointment by calling (503) 588-5094, and bring the completed materials with you to your appointment.

NOTE: Although the application form is offered, the fingerprint card, however, is not online and must either be picked up and completed prior to your appointment or you must allocate sufficient time on the day of your appointment to complete the information on the fingerprint card.
Fees You must bring your fees to the appointment: $50.00 (check, cash or money order) to the Marion County Sheriff's Office AND$15.00 (check or money order ONLY) to the Oregon State Police Total Cost: $65 While the Sheriff's Office will accept cash for their fees, the State Police will accept ONLY a check or money order. Checks or money orders are encouraged as the Sheriff's Office does not always have change available. FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND COVER PROCESSING COSTS ACCORDING TO OREGON LAW. Also, bring a self-addressed, stamped envelope with you for our use in mailing your license to you. If your application is not complete and correct you may be required to reschedule your appointment.
You MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT to be fingerprinted and photographed. The Sheriff's Office has implemented a new procedure for county citizens renewing or applying for new Concealed Handgun Licenses. Due to the number of Marion County citizens with CHLs and overwhelming workload issues, the Sheriff's Office has instituted an appointment system. Citizens of Marion County should call the Sheriff's Office (503) 588-5094 at least six (6) weeks prior to license expiration to make an appointment. The cost of $50.00 for a four (4) year license has not changed. Except for new applicants who require fingerprinting, most appointments require less than 15 minutes to complete.

Possession of a CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSE DOES NOT AUTHORIZE you to carry a firearm in any FEDERAL BUILDING, in certain areas on AIRPORT PROPERTY, or in ANY COURTHOUSE where the presiding judge has posted notice of such prohibition. If you are apprehended with a handgun on these premises, your concealed handgun license will be SEIZED AND RETURNED TO THE SHERIFF and your license may be revoked.
Also, possession of a concealed handgun without having a valid, current Concealed Handgun License with your current address on your person may result in your Concealed Handgun License being SEIZED and REVOKED. Always carry your CHL with you when in possession of a concealed handgun and make an appointment to have your card updated in the event you move to a new address or change your name.
