2017 Citizen Academy
We invite you to experience the world from the deputy's perspective. Participants will "cross the yellow line" for a close-up view of what goes on at the heart of the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
- A behind-the-scenes look at Marion County courtrooms will provide participants with an insider's understanding of the challenges faced by Judicial Security Deputies.
- You'll walk in the footsteps of arrestees and experience the inner workings of the Marion County Jail, from booking through lodging and the day-to-day living conditions.
- Parole & Probation Deputies will explain the philosophy that guides them in their case management and the programs offered to parolees to help assimilate back into our community.
- The role of the Patrol Deputy extends well beyond the traditional traffic stop. The 2017 Citizen Academy will bring participants into this multi-faceted world, exposing you to a wide variety of assignments, including Street Crimes Detectives, K9 Unit, SWAT, Marine Patrol and Search & Rescue. Participants are encouraged to go on a ride-along with a Patrol deputy and experience "the road" first hand.
