Public Information Officer
The Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Marion County Sheriff's Office is Don Thomson.
The role of the Public Information Officer (PIO) is to report to the media and to the public, accurate information on the activities of the Sheriff's Office. These activities may be as simple as reporting details on upcoming events or public safety tips, up to and including reporting the tactical movements of the SWAT Team and/or details on a homicide investigation. Open lines of communication between law enforcement and the media are very important. The Marion County Sheriff's Office works to release as much information as possible, as quickly as possible to the media and public.
