Cadet Unit
We are very proud of the Cadet Unit which is a great asset and resource to the Marion County Sheriff's Office. This Unit is comprised of youth, ages 14 1/2 to 21. The members are selected after completing a written test, an oral interview process and a thorough background investigation. Cadets must successfully complete the Sheriff's Office Cadet Academy, which runs from February through May two days a week. Members must also maintain a school academic level of 2.5 or above to remain in the cadet program and must commit a minimum of twenty (20) hours a month to the program.
Our volunteer Cadets are involved in many community activities and events. The program provides a valuable link between the public, our youth and the Sheriff's Office.
