    County seeks Budget Committee member

Posted by: Board of Commissioners Office

Marion County is seeking applications to fill a vacant position on the Budget Committee. The Budget Committee consists of the county's three commissioners and three citizen members. The committee makes budget recommendations for all county departments, operations, and capital improvements.

Citizen members are appointed for three-year terms. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, live and be eligible to vote in Marion County. County employees are not eligible to serve on this committee.

The Budget Committee meets quarterly and convenes for two days in May or June for detailed, day-long work sessions to review budget proposals with departmental representatives and receive public comment. The committee approves a recommended budget to forward to the Board of Commissioners for formal adoption.

Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017.
