Posted by: Community Services - County Fair

The Marion County Fair will feature two nights of solid National acts as part of the fair in 2017.  "We're so excited to announce that we have confirmed Night Ranger for Friday, July 7, and Diamond Rio for Saturday, July 8.  We have worked very hard to bring in the best acts possible and we have surely done that this year. We are thrilled with our line-up and very excited to be able to bring a diverse range of musical acts to our fair," said Joel Conder, who spearheads the fair board's effort on big name acts.

Night Ranger has earned widespread acclaim, multi-platinum and gold album status while leaving their indelible mark on the music charts with a string of best-selling albums (Dawn Patrol, Midnight Madness, 7 Wishes, Big Life and Man in Motion); its popularity fueled by an impressive string of instantly recognizable hit singles and signature album tracks. The band produced legendary hits such as Sister Christian, Don't Tell Me You Love Me, When You Close Your Eyes, the anthem You Can Still Rock in America and more. The band was also one of the first big video bands with more than 10 number one videos on MTV.

Diamond Rio signed to Arista Records and in 1991 with the release of Meet in the Middle and became the first country music group in history to reach number one with a debut single. The band is also known for their hits How Your Love Makes Me Feel, One More Day, Beautiful Mess, Unbelievable, In a Week or Two and more. They released an autobiography, Beautiful Mess: The Story of Diamond Rio, published by Thomas Nelson in 2009. Diamond Rio's performance on Saturday night will follow the popular rough stock rodeo.

The Marion County Fair runs July 6 – 9 at the Oregon State Fairgrounds located at 2330 17th St. NE, Salem. The four-day fair features events and activities such as 4H and FFA, public competitions, amazing food, commercial shopping and attractions such as carnival rides, petting zoo, rough stock rodeo and new this year racing pigs!

"We're finalizing so many details of the fair," said Jill Ingalls, Fair Event Coordinator.  "Our days are each themed from Honor Day, Awesome Day, Agriculture Day and Family – and each day is packed with activities and fun. New activities are in works, this fair is shaping up to be super. Having the big name acts booked and confirmed this early is icing on the cake!"
