WIC farmers market coupons now available

Posted by: Health and Human Services

The Marion County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program is pleased to announce the start of the 2017 Farmers Market coupon season. These coupons are provided by the Farm Direct Nutrition Program to promote healthy eating and to encourage the purchase of locally grown produce which helps support local farmers.

The Farm Direct Nutrition Program allows eligible WIC participants to receive $20 in coupons to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs directly from approved farmers markets and roadside stands. Each WIC family is eligible to receive up to a maximum of $60 in farmers market coupons per year in addition to regular WIC benefits.

Marion County WIC will be distributing coupons at the Salem Saturday Market on July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. Coupons will also be distributed at the Woodburn, Silverton and Stayton WIC offices in the coming weeks. A photo ID or a WIC ID card is required when picking up coupons at these locations.

Contact the Marion County WIC office at (503) 588-5057 for additional information. There are a limited number of coupons available that will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit www.co.marion.or.us/HLT/PH/WIC/ for more information.
