Marion County Dog Shelter       OUR MISSION Our Mission is to serve and protect the people and dogs of Marion County in a professional and courteous manner by:  Enforcing Marion County dog licensing and control ordinances.  Promoting the humane treatment of dogs. Providing shelter and care for stray dogs until they are reunited with their families or adopted. Educating our residents. Respecting the needs of our customers. What's New at Marion County Dog Shelter!       Meet Our Dog of the Week! Rondo is a 5-year old Miniature Pinscher. He's a happy guy who still has a lot of get-up-and-go! He's fun and entertaining, and would make a great companion and travel buddy.  Are you looking for a new best friend? Someone who wants to experience life by your side? Then Rondo's your guy!     Check out his online profile and then come meet him today!     Dog & Shelter Tails!      Marion County Dog Shelter is going to the dogs. LITERALLY!    During the warm weather months, we have scheduled license amnesty events for May, June, July, August, and September, and each event offers free Rabies vaccines!    These vaccines are limited to the first 250 new or renewed Marion County dog licenses and are given on a first come / first served basis. There will also be a veterinarian at each event providing low cost vaccinations. Please make sure to visit and "friend" us on Facebook! The Marion County Dog Shelter is now EarthWISE certified. This designation is given to organizations who commit to observe environmentally-friendly practices in their facilities.    Now we're dog and Earth-friendly!                   Marion County Dog Shelter is working with CCTV to produce videos that showcase the dog shelter and our adoptable dogs.      Donations & Other Things Needed!     Donate a Bed Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone.  If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort, please click here.   HELP FEED A HUNGRY DOG    Donate Pet Food to the Marion County Dog Shelter & Marion-Polk Food Share Pet Food Drive!    We are often asked what donated items we can use and accept at the shelter. These are items we currently need: Towels, Blankets, Dog Toys, Tennis Balls, Canned Dog Food, and Dog Treats We appreciate your generosity.
