Welcome to the Marion County Sheriff's Office Institutions Division
My name is Sheila Lorance, and I have the distinct honor of serving the citizens of Marion County as the Commander of the Sheriff’s Office - Institutions Division. The Sheriff’s Institution Division is responsible for the operation of both the Marion County Jail and Work Center. These facilities are staffed with over 155 law enforcement professionals, and more than 100 community volunteers, all of whom are dedicated to humane and ethical treatment of the more than 16,000 - 20,000 people that we care for each year.
Commander Sheila Lorance
With our commitment to the humane treatment of all, and to the preservation of human dignity, comes our promise of maintaining our correctional operations at levels that meet or exceed the highest State and Federal Standards. In addition, we continually strive to meet my personal standard of treating people as we would want to be treated ourselves. The health and well being of those in our charge, and the safety of the community are our primary objectives, and we take great pride in the job that we do for you, the citizens of Marion County.
For the families and friends of those in our care, we know this can be a trying time that raises many questions about the unknown. On this website we have attempted to answer many frequently asked questions. Our goal is to provide excellence in customer service, and I hope you will feel free to contact me directly with your suggestions for improvement or concerns. Sincerely,Commander Sheila Loranceslorance@co.marion.or.us (503) 588-8572
