Recycling Programs for Special Items
Fluorescent lights are accepted for recycling from residents (not businesses) at the Salem-Keizer Transfer Station (SKRTS) 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding major holidays. Limit of 10 per visit. Businesses can find out how to recycle their lights by clicking here.
Electronics can be taken to the Salem-Keizer Recycling & Transfer Station, the North Marion Recycling & Transfer Station, or Garten Services for recycling. Click here for details.
Mercury fever thermometers can be taken to the SKRTS gatehouse every day in return for a free replacement digital fever thermometer. There's a limit of three replacement thermometers per customer. Please bring these to us in sealed ziplock bags. For small business (CEG) customers, please refer to our Household Hazardous Waste Facility for options.
The best part is these programs are all FREE!
