    2. Community safety and security

The Marion County Sheriff's Office is working closely with the Linn County Sheriff's Office and our local law enforcement partners for additional sworn personnel to help with patrolling evacuated areas in Marion and Linn Counties. Multiple agencies responded with additional officers and deputies, including the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Salem Police Department, Stayton Police Department, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Albany Oregon Police Department and the Oregon State Police. Those officers will patrol evacuated areas to prevent, and arrest, those who look to take advantage of vacant homes and businesses. Additionally, the Oregon National Guard is assisting by staffing roads at restricted access points.

    Reporting missing persons

We continue to receive questions about how to report someone believed to be missing in the evacuation area within Marion and Linn Counties.

To report a family member missing, please contact your county's non-emergency dispatch:

    Marion County Sheriff's Office 503-588-5032

    Linn County Sheriff's Office 541-976-3950

    3. Resident access to damaged areas

At this time our office is working on a plan for residents who are displaced to safely return to their residences. We currently don't have a time line for when this will occur and will update our community members as soon as this information is available.

    4. Detroit Lake

To help with pre-planning of removal of boats still on the water, we are asking boat owners to email Marion County Marine Patrol Deputy Garrett Olson at GOlson@co.marion.or.us with their contact information.

County officials remain in contact with the U.S. Army Corps Engineers who are monitoring the water levels. Once it is determined to be safe we will advise the residents of date and time.

    5. Marion County Resources

We appreciate the amazing outpouring of community support. Please avoid dropping off supplies directly at evacuation sites. Learn about current donation needs and drop off locations, please visit the Marion County website.

    6. Linn County Resources

For those who may not have access to our online resources, we have set up a non-emergency line that should be used for questions regarding current evacuation levels, resource availability, volunteer needs and more. This phone number is 541-812-2260. Please keep in mind this number is to be used for non-emergencies that pertain to the wildfires in our area.
