Detectives have been working through the night investigating the events that lead to a man being shot at a southeast Salem home. At approximately 1:30 p.m., Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 4800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE where investigators believe the shooting occurred.

The man shot, a resident of Salem, is currently at OHSU undergoing surgery, he is expected to survive. During the execution of the search warrant, Detectives arrested one man with an outstanding warrant but he is not associated to the shooting. The Sheriff's Office would like to ensure the public there is no immediate danger to residents, Detectives do believe the shooting is drug related.

The Sheriff's Office is not currently releasing the name of the man who was shot, we will update this release as the investigation progresses, and we do not anticipate any further releases today.

Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies and detectives are currently on scene and investigating a shooting in the 4800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE in Salem. Deputies were called after a man began banging on doors asking for help and claiming he had been shot.

The man has been taken to Salem Hospital where he is being treated for a gunshot wound. It is obviously very early in this investigation and the Sheriff's Office is not able to provide details such as the victim's name, age, condition or any details surrounding the shooting. Deputies do want to assure residents that there is no immediate danger to the public.

As more information becomes available this release will be updated, that time frame is not yet known.
