Marion County will hold a swearing in ceremony for Marion County's recently re-elected officials on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will be held in the Senator Hearing Room at Courthouse Square located at 555 Court Street NE, Salem. The public is welcome to attend.
Circuit Court Judge Thomas Hart will administer the oath of office to Commissioner Sam Brentano and Assessor Tom Rohlfing who were both re-elected to four year terms in 2016. County Clerk Bill Burgess will be participating in the Joint Election Officials Legislative Conference in Washington D.C. on January 3 and was sworn in for his fourth term on December 20, 2016.
Commissioner Sam Brentano was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in 2003 and was re-elected for his fourth term as commissioner in November 2016. Commissioner Brentano focuses on transportation, timber, and emergency management issues. He was also reappointed to the Board of Directors for the Association of Oregon & California Counties for 2016. Commissioner Brentano will serve as chair for the Board of Commissioners in 2016.
Tom Rohlfing was elected to his second term as Marion County Assessor in May 2016. Mr. Rohlfing served as an appraiser in the Assessor's Office from 1994 until he was first elected in 2012. In his 18 years as a county appraiser, Mr. Rohlfing served in all appraisal sections of the department.
