**Update October 5, 2015
The Marion County Sheriff's Office CRASH Team and detectives have arrested the suspect driver in the fatal crash that occurred on River Rd S. The suspect is 22 year old Luis Enrique Huerta-Martinez of Independence.
Details from the investigation show the victim, Mr Myers was traveling eastbound on River Rd approaching Riverside Dr when the suspect, pulled out from Riverside Dr in front of Mr Myers who was thrown from the motorcycle he was riding and suffered fatal injuries.
Mr Huerta-Martinez ran from the vehicle and were not located until today, 10-5-15, when he turned himself into the Independence Police Department. Marion County Detective Nancy Hubbard conducted an interview and arrested Mr Huerta-Martinez on charges of Manslaughter II and Fail to Perform Duties of a Driver. Mr Huerta-Martinez is being held at the Marion County Jail until his arraignment which will be Tuesday 10-06-15 @ 3pm at the Marion County Court Annex.

The details regarding how this accident happened are still being investigated by the Marion County Sheriff's Office CRASH Team. A scene photograph has been attached to the update. The deceased driver is identified as 59 year old Raymond Myers from Salem and family members have been notified.

This evening at about 7:20 pm deputies were called to River Rd S & Riverside DR S regarding a fatal crash involving two vehicles.
Upon their arrival, they learned both occupants of one of the vehicle's involved had fled the scene of the crash on foot. They confirmed the other driver of the other vehicle was deceased.
This is a very involved and active criminal investigation. Deputies are being assisted by members of the Oregon State Police, Independence Police Department, Monmouth Police Department, Polk County Sheriff's Office, Salem Police Department and Polk County Fire District 1.
It is recommended to avoid this area as all roadways are closed and blocked. It is expected to be closed for several hours to come.
There are no pictures of the scene available at this time and no further information about the suspects or the direction in which they fled. Several agencies are searching the area looking for the suspects with help of our K9 partners.
