This morning at about 7:00 a.m., Deputies were called to the 13000 block of Wilco Highway NE near Mt. Angel. A local spa building business reported that a female entered their store caused a disturbance, stole a pair of bolt cutters and left on foot back toward a neighboring property.

While Deputies were responding the female was reported to be walking in the middle of Wilco Highway and was nearly struck by an oncoming vehicle. When Deputies arrived they developed probable cause to arrest the female and found her inside of a tent on the neighboring property.

The two Deputies who responded informed the female she was under arrest and when they attempted to handcuff her she began pulling away and kicking at the Deputies. The situation became even more serious when approximately 7 more individuals exited their tents and RV's and began shouting and surrounding the Deputies.

The Deputies held the female down while they also instructed the now formed crowd to stay back. The Deputies radioed for additional cover and units responded from Mt. Angel, Woodburn and Silverton. The now 9 police officers on scene were able to calm the crowd and take the kicking female into custody without causing any injury to her, the crowd or the responding Officers and Deputies.

Commander Eric Hlad stated, "The professionalism and restraint the Deputies exhibited during this very tense situation is a credit to them individually, their training and ability to react appropriately to a person whose state of mind is being drastically affected by illegal drugs." The female who is presumed to be high on methamphetamine and is refusing to provide her name, is being taken to the Marion County Jail where she will be booked for the crimes of Trespassing, Theft and Resisting Arrest.

Once at the jail the female was finally identified as Amber K Danielson, age 25, a transient living in and around Marion County. Ms. Danielson's photo will be added to our website as soon as she is processed through our facility.
