Last night at 11:40 p.m., Deputies were notified that the Silverton Police Department was in pursuit of an SUV that had been involved in an armed robbery in Tigard. The vehicle left Silverton and traveled toward Silver Falls State Park where Silverton PD terminated their pursuit of the vehicle.

A short time later Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office found the vehicle and began following it at a safe distance southbound on Silver Falls Highway. Deputies continued to follow while coordinating with units who were ahead of the SUV and setting up their spike strips. After two separate spike strip deployments Deputies activated their emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The SUV attempted to drive off road but quickly became stuck near the intersection of Mill Creek Road SE and Golf Club Road SE. Richard Clark, 28 and Olivia Matheny, 21, both of Bend were arrested without incident.

Matheny who had an outstanding warrant for a Parole Violation was taken to Tigard and handed over to the Tigard Police Department for their investigation. Clark was taken from the scene to the Santiam Memorial Hospital where he is in stable condition and being treated for what Deputies believe was a drug overdose. Once released Clark will be arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail for Parole Violation Warrant, Attempt to Elude, Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangering.

The Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Silverton Police Department, Redmond Police Department, Tigard Police Department, Salem Police Department and the Oregon State Police.

There are no booking images currently available for Clark.
