District Attorney
Temporary Freeze Beginning November 18, 2020
Governor Brown's order of Temporary Freeze issued to address the surge in Covid-19 cases in Oregon does NOT alter court operations in Marion County. The Court, and the Marion County District Attorney's Office remain open to the public with additional Covid related health screening occurring upon entry to the building. People with scheduled appearances at the Courthouse or District Attorney’s office who are feeling sick or have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus should not have in-person contact, but should contact the Court or the District Attorney’s office as described below.
COVID-19 Response
The Marion County District Attorney’s office is working closely with the courts to limit in-person contacts during the COVID-19 outbreak. Since the outbreak, the Chief Justice of the Oregon State Supreme Court has put in place restrictions to limit in-person appearances. As a result of this order, most in-person appearances are being re-scheduled by the court.
Victims Seeking Protective Orders or Other Assistance
Serving victims of crime remains our priority at this time and we will continue to offer services by phone, email and in person following COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. Please call our office at 503-588-5253 to speak with an advocate over the phone, or to make an appointment if you would like to meet with an advocate in person.
Protective Order Information: If you are seeking a protective order, or need more information regarding the process please call our main line to be directed to an advocate.
Support Enforcement
Effective May 22, 2020, our office will be open for business during normal business hours between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

- We are limiting customers to no more than two people in the child support lobby at a time. Other customers should wait in the hall until one of the in-office customers leaves.
- We are asking customers who are ill not to visit our office until they have recovered.
Please call or email us instead.
- We are asking customers to consider using alternative means to contact us – phone (503-588-5152), email (MARIONFSD@co.marion.or.us), fax (503-588-7999), or appointment (please call the office to schedule).

Jury Service and COVID-19
If you have received a jury summons to appear as a potential juror in Marion County, please check
here for updated information from the courts and/or follow the directions on your summons to see if you still need to appear. Please note that at this time, Grand Jury and Jury Trials ARE still occurring in Marion County. So in general you could still be required to report for service as you may be needed to ensure that our justice system remains operational. (The court’s website has further information about those who are exempt). Rest assured, our court is taking every possible precaution to keep jurors safe and healthy in accordance with CDC recommendations. Jurors are only asked to gather in smaller numbers and in spaces that allow for appropriate social distancing. Our grand jury room has be moved into a large courtroom with plenty of distancing space and trials are only held in our county’s largest courtroom which is spacious enough so that all parties (including the jurors) can remain more than 6 feet apart. You may also take your own additional precautions such as wearing a mask. It might look a little different than the courtroom on those 7 episodes of “Law & Order” you just binge-watched, but it can still be justice if we are all willing to do our part
