    HIGH WATER IN MARION COUNTY CAUSING ISSUES FOR RESIDENTS (PHOTO)

    Like many other communities around the state, Marion County is experiencing several areas of high water that are impacting resident's ability to travel. Several closures are already in effect, for a list of these closures please head to http://www.co.marion.or.us/PW/Roads/Pages/closures.aspx

    Water getting close to your home? Need sand bags? Sand can be found around our area at the sites listed below.

    Marion County: Bags and sand available at Marion County Fire District #1, 300 Cordon Road NE, Salem
    Polk County: A limited number of pre-filled bags available. Bring a shovel, bags and sand on site at the shop at 820 SW Ash Street, Dallas
    Salem: Bags and sand available; bring a shovel.
    West Salem
    Orchard Heights Park Orchard Heights Road NW
    Sather Park (undeveloped) Willie Way NW between Barnabas Street NW and Lottie Lane NW

    South Salem

    Stayton: A self-service sand bag station has been set up outside the gate of Knife River Sand and Gravel, at 41816 Stayton-Scio Rd SE.
    Silverton: Bags and sand available at city shop at 830 McClaine Street, Silverton
    Independence: There's a sand bag station at the north end of Independence Civic Center, 555 S Main St.

    With the additional rains falling and water levels continuing to rise, Marion County Emergency Managers are encouraging our residents to prepare. Residents should have on hand food, water, batteries and other supplies to sustain for at least two days in the event they are cut off by high water.

    The Sheriff's Office will be adding additional personnel to our roadways to help residents with any water related emergencies over the next several days. You can watch your local water levels by going to https://hww.onerain.com/home.php
