The EarthWISE Sustainable Business Network is accepting Material Management Grant Applications for 2024. Materials management is an approach to serving human needs by using/reusing resources most productively and sustainably throughout their life cycles, generally minimizing the number of materials involved and all the associated environmental impacts. This approach presents rich and transformative opportunities for all Oregonians to better protect our environment.
For those of you who have been members of the networks in the past few years, we have made changes to the grant process this year. Rather than a single grant opportunity, we are now offering three distinct applications tracks.
Materials Management Track
Materials management is an approach aimed at serving human needs by using and reusing resources in the most productive and sustainable way throughout their life cycles. Any project that reduces impacts of materials through their life cycle is eligible. This can include product redesign or production changes, marketing to reduce consumption, and creating reuse infrastructure. Additionally, projects focused on outreach and education of materials management are eligible for funding. Recycling and Compost projects are not eligible for this round of funding. Applicants may request up to $10,000 for this grant.
Reusable Foodware Track
Does your business currently use disposable plates, cups, utensils, and other food service items for on-site dining and/or take-out? This grant cycle is offering up to $3,000 for purchasing reusable foodware for your business as well as free, hands-on technical support to set you up with reusable foodware; this is a straight purchase grant.
Sustainable Materials Programming Track
These grants provide funding specific to projects able to replace single-use, disposable foodware with reusable systems or projects related to reusable transport packaging to prevent waste from limited-life packing used in manufacturing and transportation, and/or distribution of durable alternatives designed for many years of use. Applicants may request up to $15,000 for this grant.
The following entities are eligible to apply for these grants:
- Marion County Businesses
