Salmon Falls
The purchase of this area, with the assistance of Land and Water funds, was made to preserve a beautiful and breathtaking scenic area. The area is forested, and at the falls site, the Little North Fork of the Santiam River plunges over a rock outcropping about 30 feet to a pool beneath. Only the minimum development of the popular area has been undertaken. Emphasis has been placed on the preservation of the natural beauty of the site. The Bureau of Land Management owns the land on two sides of the park and is interested in ultimately developing the entire area.
Wildfire Recovery Efforts
The long-term goal for Marion County Parks is to redevelop in a way that anticipates how the public will recreate in the future, while also building climate and environmentally resilient parks that future generations can enjoy.
Parks has been presented with a once-in-a-generation opportunity to start fresh and forge a new vision for recreation in the Santiam Canyon. This vision will provide diverse recreational opportunities and create a sustainable parks program that benefits the region and visitors.
