HIV Testing is Available
Who Should Get Tested
The only way to know your HIV status is to get tested. Testing is easy and there are free, confidential options in Oregon. Yet only 4 out of 10 people living in the state have ever been tested (Source: Testing - End HIV).
The CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13-64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of routine health care. Get tested at least once a year if:
- You are a man who has had sex with another man
- You have had sex with someone who has HIV
- You've had more than one sex partner since your last HIV test
- You have shared needles, syringes, or other equipment to inject drugs
- You have another sexually transmitted disease, hepatitis, or tuberculosis
- You've had sex with anyone who has done anything listed above, or with someone whose sexual history you don't know
There are HIV testing locations throughout the state, including local clinics, public health departments, and your health care provider.
To find a testing location near you, visit the CDC website.
HIV testing at our Public Health Clinic is available for everyone, especially people at high risk for HIV. This includes men who have sex with men, people who have used injected drugs, and sex partners of people living with HIV. We accept OHP and no one will be refused testing for inability to pay.
