Independence Bridge Repair
Marion County has received federal funds to rehabilitate the Independence Bridge. Construction is expected to start in the summer of 2027 and upon completion, the weight restrictions on the structure will be removed. Repair work will include:
- Structural bridge strengthening and repair
- Bridge rail repair
- Superstructure painting where needed
- Replacing bridge joints
- Resurfacing the bridge deck
The bridge will remain open during construction, but lane closures may occur Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM with flaggers directing traffic through the work area. Both lanes of traffic will be open before 9 AM and after 4 PM to accommodate the morning and evening commute.
